There is a great deal of publicity for Kaboom, as the US release comes nearer. Thomas himself has tweeted about the amazing movie poster, which was first posted by Vulture.
What’s the best way to get in the spirit for Kaboom, the new sci-fi sex comedy from Gregg Araki, which finds the director of Nowhere and The Doom Generation returning to what he loves best: silly jokes, bright colors, and beautiful people hooking up in every permutation imaginable? We’d suggest a look at the film’s poster first, a colorfully riotous outer-space fantasia featuring stars Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Juno Temple (Greenberg), and Chris Zylka (the upcoming Spider-Man reboot). It’s like a sex-drenched take on Rainbow Road from Super Mario Kart, and it’s the perfect sampler of the film itself (opening January 22 on demand as part of Sundance Selects, and in theaters January 28).
UK fans fear not, Kaboom will be released here in the summer, though as of yet I haven’t heard of an official date, or whether it’s due for DVD or theatrical release.
Other Kaboom mentions
Edgar Wright’s sleeper hit turned whimsical hipster shoegazing into a hilarious blockbuster satire. Gregg Araki’s “Kaboom” is funnier, trippier and more vulgar, but plays with genre in a similarly riotous fashion. [Source: IndieWire]
A hyperstylized, pansexual trip, Kaboom is a live-action film born out of the graphic novel aesthetic. Thomas Dekker plays Smith, a film student lusting after his dumb, hunky roommate (aptly named Thor), but after eating a drug-laced cookie, he hooks up with a hot chick, London (Juno Temple)….
