Thomas at PETA!
MMN posted an article about this past weekend’s PETA Gala, which was to celebrate the 30th anniversary. Below is an excerpt about Thomas and his reasons for turning vegan at 13.
Thomas Dekker, who went vegan at 13 after visiting a pig farm and campaigned for the passage of California’s Proposition 2 for the humane treatment of farm animals, intends to further help the planet by buying an electric car, “Maybe the Leaf. I haven’t decided yet,” he said, noting that the shift away from gas vehicles “might save us all some day, at least our children and grandchildren.” Last seen in “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” Dekker will star in the independent films “Drift” and “Kaboom,” and will appear in HBO’s “Cinema Verite,” the film version of the landmark 1973 docuseries “An American Family” as Lance Loud, the first openly gay character on TV. Starring Diane Lane, Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini, it will premiere next year. “I’d never had the opportunity to play a real person before. I studied him for months,” said Dekker. “There wasn’t an inch of video that I didn’t get my hands on.
Evil In The UK!
In other news, All About Evil is set to get it’s UK premiere in Manchester this Saturday. In a very last minute announcement, the mailing list of Peaches Christ announced a Midnight Mass performance featuring Peaches, Jade and Nikita Ramsey and many of the usual suspects. Unfortunately no Thomas, Anthony or Ashley mentioned, but it’s sure to be a fantastic night – attend if you can, in costume!
And speaking of world domination, I kinda can’t believe that I hop on a plane tomorrow with Bea Dazzler, Trixxie Carr, and She-mantha Sharkey headed for Manchester, England for the giant International premiere of ALL ABOUT EVIL! The big show happens this Saturday at The Cornerhouse with the full Peaches Christ Experience In 4-D including an appearance by our actual evil twins and actual Brits Jade & Nikita Ramsey. There are currently Manchester Monsters learning our Gore Gore dance, as well as, a British Adrian and Mr. Twigs. It’s surreal! If you know any English chaps and can send ’em our way, please point them to the Abandon Normal Devices Film Festival.
Check out more information about the UK premiere here.
The UK goes Kaboom!
Finally, Kaboom is also set to see it’s UK premiere this October at the London BFI festival. Tickets for the first screening on Wednesday 28th have sold out, but there are still some up for purchase for the Thursday 29th screening. There may also be on-the-day tickets availiable for the 2 screenings. For more information, click here.
Attending?
If anyone happens to go to either of these events, please get in touch and let me know what you thought. Unfortunately I cannot attend due to university and my student budget – so I’d love to get some information and perhaps a report for the site if you’re interested.
